No. 22 Auburn visits LSU on Saturday night, and the status of one of Ed Orgeron’s best players remains up in the air as of today.

Cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. sustained a foot injury in practice a week ago today and was unable to play in last Saturday’s win against Mississippi State.

On Wednesday during the SEC coaches teleconference, Orgeron offered an update on where things stand with the 6-1, 195-pound junior from Baton Rouge.

“He flew out of town to see the doctor, so we haven’t heard anything,” Orgeron said. “I think he’s in the process of seeing the doctor today.”

Stingley, a preseason first-team All-American, recorded 8 tackles, 2.5 tackles for losses, and a forced fumble in LSU’s first 3 games of the season.

As a sophomore a year ago, he recorded 38 tackles, 21 pass defenses, and 6 interceptions.
