A former star defensive back at LSU is reportedly landing a new assistant coaching gig for 2022.

According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Chevis Jackson is accepting the position as cornerbacks coach at Marshall. He will team up with former Vanderbilt, Mississippi State, and Alabama assistant Charles Huff. Huff took over as head coach of the Thundering Herd prior to the 2021 season.

Jackson was most recently coaching cornerbacks at Kansas since 2019. He spent 2016-18 as the defensive backs coach at Ball State and was on staff at LSU in 2015 as a graduate assistant.

Jackson played at LSU from 2004-07 and was a part of the Tigers’ BCS Championship team for the 2007 season. He had an interception vs. Ohio State in that BCS Championship Game and finished his senior season with 5 interceptions.

For his career, Jackson racked up 137 tackles and 8 interceptions.
