Leonard Fournette has been plagued with multiple injuries throughout his three-year college career at LSU; in fact, they even prematurely ended his time in Baton Rouge.

Now, the 4th overall pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars has been bitten by the injury bug once again during his first training camp in the NFL.

Now heading into the second week of the preseason, Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone has announced Fournette will not be participating in the teams Thursday game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“We are just trying to be smart on it,” Marrone said Monday.

This news coming after Fournette not practicing today according to Florida Times-Union’s Ryan O’Halloran.

The former Tigers running back made headlines last week after his first preseason game by exclaiming that the NFL was “slower than he really thought,” comparing it to his days in the SEC.

During Jacksonville’s preseason game against the Patriots, Forunette amassed 31 yards on nine carries and a TD. Fournette’s next opportunity to showcase his ability could come against the Carolina Panthers, who the Jaguars play next Thursday at home.

It’s obvious Jacksonville is making sure their high draft pick heads into the 2017 regular season as healthy as can be. With Fournette’s injury riddled past, coach Doug Marrone and the rest of the staff are being cautious with him, hoping they don’t become a constant concern.
