Jayden Daniels’ Heisman Trophy odds surge following Pac-12 Championship Game
Jayden Daniels has been among the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy throughout the 2023 season, but Friday night’s Pac-12 Championship Game may have secured him the award.
Washington took down Oregon 34-31, all but clinching a spot in the College Football Playoff and moving Michael Penix Jr. ahead of Bo Nix in the race for the Heisman Trophy. The Husky quarterback completed 27-of-39 passes, finishing with 319 passing yards, 1 touchdown and an interception in a victory that made a statement to the rest of the country.
But, DraftKings now has Daniels leading the odds to win the Heisman at -1200. Penix Jr. follows him at +900, and Oregon quarterback Bo Nix is third at +1200. Nix was the previous favorite prior to the Pac-12 title game, and he finished with 239 passing yards, 69 rushing yards, 3 touchdowns and an interception in the loss to Washington.
Daniels has recorded 3,812 passing yards, 40 passing touchdowns and 4 interceptions this season. He’s also tacked on 1,134 rushing yards and 10 scores on the ground as one of the more dynamic athletes at quarterback that the SEC has ever seen. LSU sits at 9-3 on the season and awaits its bowl destination, potentially a Florida bowl game (ReliaQuest or Citrus Bowl).
