As a sophomore in 2016, LSU DE Arden Key finished second in the SEC with 12 sacks while playing in only 11 of the Tigers’ 13 games.

However, as the rest of the LSU squad began preparations for the 2017 season, Key was noticeably absent from this year’s spring practice session.

The reason for Key’s absence has been labeled as “personal reasons,” but no return date has yet to be set in stone.

On Friday night, though, LSU coach Ed Orgeron told The Advocate that he expects the talented junior to return to school (and the football team) within the next month or so:

“I expect him to be back in summer school in June,” Orgeron said. “Doing very well. Still has things he’s working on.”

The summer semester at LSU begins on June 5.

After ending his sophomore campaign by sacking Heisman-winning QB Lamar Jackson twice in LSU’s 29-9 Citrus Bowl victory over Louisville, big things are expected from the rising junior who will likely leave for the NFL after the 2017 season.
