One of the top safeties in the class of 2021 is heading to DBU.

LSU picked up a commitment from Derrick Davis Jr., the No. 2 safety in the class on the 247Sports Composite. LSU pulled Davis out of Big Ten territory. The Pennsylvania product also had Penn State, Ohio State, Pittsburgh and Georgia in his final five.

“I just feel like that is the perfect place for me,” the 6-foot-1, 194-pound Davis told Brian Dohn of 247Sports about his commitment to Ed Orgeron’s Tigers. “It reminded me of home. The staff really showed a lot of love toward me and my family. They see me doing a lot of big things for their team, for their program.”

With Davis, the No. 53 overall prospect, in the class, LSU is at No. 3 nationally in the Composite 2021 recruiting rankings. Davis’ highlights can be viewed below, via Hudl:
