Arguably the best running back in LSU school history is off to the NFL.

Junior running back Leonard Fournette announced his decision to leave school a year early Monday afternoon via this thoughtful post to Tiger Nation on Twitter:

Entering his final game as an LSU Tiger, Fournette has racked up 3,830 rushing yards on 616 carries, good for an average of 6.2 yards per carry, and an amazing 40 rushing touchdowns in three seasons with the school. At this time, it is unclear whether Fournette will play in the Citrus Bowl against Louisville. The junior has been dealing with nagging injuries all season and did not play in the season finale against Texas A&M.

Rated as a five-star prep prospect, Fournette passed on on the opportunity to go to a laundry list of programs coming out of high school and instead decided to stay at home and play for his in-state Tigers.
