LSU has suspended Javien Toviano from all team activities following an arrest for video voyeurism. Toviano turned himself in to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, a spokesperson told NOLA.com.

Per Gabby Jimenez and Wilson Alexander of NOLA.com, a woman told detectives that she found videos of her having sex with Toviano on his iPad. The woman told police she did not consent to being recorded, leading to Toviano being arrested for video voyeurism.

The report details that Toviano has a clock with a built-in camera near his bed. The woman reportedly told police that Toviano had recorded them in the past and she had told him that she did not want to be recorded.

During an interview with detectives, Toviano admitted to using the hidden camera in the clock, per the arrest warrant. LSU has suspended Toviano from all team activities while the legal process plays out.

Toviano was part of LSU’s 2023 recruiting class. Out of Arlington (Texas) Martin High School, he was a highly-touted recruit, rated 4-stars, the No. 5 safety and No. 57 player overall on the 247Sports Composite.

Toviano saw time at cornerback and nickel as a freshman. His LSU bio notes that he was a consistent part of LSU’s secondary rotation late in the 2023 season. He played in all 13 games, making starts in three of the last five against Alabama, Florida and Wisconsin.

Toviano recorded 33 tackles, including 20 solo stops. He posted a season-high of 11 tackles against Florida. Toviano also recorded his first-carer pass breakup and a fumble recovery in the thrilling 52-35 win over the Gators.

LSU opens the 2024 season against USC on Sept. 2, a game that will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, home of the Raiders. Brian Kelly’s team begins fall camp activities on Aug. 1. Toviano was considered to be in the mix for a key role in the secondary this season.
