Tyrann Mathieu is in search for a new NFL home after 3 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs.

The LSU great has 3 Pro Bowl appearances and a Super Bowl ring as part of a 9-year career that has started with the Arizona Cardinals (2013-2017) and the Houston Texans (2018) before coming on board with the Chiefs ahead of the 2019 campaign on a 3-year, $42-million deal.

This week has been active for Mathieu as teams angle for his services following his decision to test the waters of free agency. After a visit with the New Orleans Saints, the defensive back met virtually with the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday, per NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport. Not only that, but, according to Rapoport, the Eagles have “emerged as a prime location” for him.

Mathieu recorded 76 tackles, 3 interceptions, and 3 fumble recoveries for the Chiefs in 2021 en route to his 3rd Pro Bowl selection. During Kansas City’s Super Bowl run in 2019, he notched 75 tackles, 12 pass breakups, and 4 interceptions.

The Eagles were 9-8 last season and finished 2nd in the NFC East. They lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-15 in the NFC Wild Card Round.
