One sports book says Ed Orgeron has the nation's best odds of getting fired first this season
When you look at coaches around the country, perhaps the one that sticks out to most people as the person who could be the first to get fired this fall is Kansas coach David Beaty.
After all, Beaty’s Jayhawks have a 3-33 record the past three seasons with him at the helm and don’t show many signs of getting better this fall.
However, SportsBettingDime.com sees things a bit differently, listing LSU coach Ed Orgeron as the coach most likely to be the first guy fired this year:
Odds to be the first coach fired, via https://t.co/kYAqM7BwoE:
Ed Orgeron (LSU): 7/1
David Beaty (Kansas): 9/1
Brad Lambert (Charlotte): 14/1
Bob Davie (New Mexico): 14/1
Everett Withers (Texas State): 14/1— Jeff Rosen (@jeff_rosen88) July 31, 2018
On the surface, that seems strange, but it is true that expectations in Baton Rouge are much higher than those in Lawrence. A slow start would be much more likely to doom Coach O than it would Beaty, for example.
We’ll have to wait and see, but Coach O will indeed need to get the Tigers off to a hot start this year to take some of the pressure off himself.
