Clyde Edwards-Helaire hasn’t even arrived in Kansas City yet but he already has the support of the franchise’s most important player.

The final pick in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft had to wait longer than any of the other 32 players selected on Thursday night but there likely wasn’t a better option for the rookie from LSU than going from one championship team to another as he leaves college for the NFL.

You don’t have to take our word for it, just listen to what Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid told Edwards-Helaire after selecting the running back with the No. 32 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

“We asked Pat Mahomes, who do you want? He picked you,” Reid told the running back in the video below.

Talk about a ringing endorsement.

Joe Burrow has said that Edwards-Helaire was his best friend on LSU’s team last year and it looks like the relationship between Mahomes and the running back from LSU is already off to a great start.
