Game recognizes game.
LSU junior running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire did it all during the No. 1 Tigers’ win over No. 5 Alabama in Tuscaloosa last Saturday. Not only did he run for 103 yards on 20 carries, but he added 9 catches for 77 yards, accounting for 3 touchdowns on the ground and 1 through the air.
But it was that 4th touchdown that got him a shoutout from one of the greatest running backs in college football history. On Thursday evening, FOX college football analyst and USC great Reggie Bush gave his “Run of the Week” to Edwards-Helaire.
Noting that Alabama had stacked the box with 8 players to guard against the run, Bush acknowledged that it was a “win” for the Crimson Tide. However, he mentioned Edwards-Helaire’s tenacity, along with his ability to find a way to get into the end zone despite Alabama’s defensive alignment.
“The one thing you can never put a stat on is a man’s will, his heart and his determination to make a play work,” Bush said. “Clyde Edwards-Helaire made this work by imposing his will on this defense.”
