Dak Prescott is in the headlines for the wrong reason this weekend.

The former Mississippi State standout and current Dallas Cowboys quarterback reportedly hosted a party for 30 guests, disregarding Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s March 31 executive order to minimize social gatherings and in-person contact with people who are not in the same household.”

TMZ Sports broke the news of the party. The outlet obtained a brief video from the party and multiple photos, including a dining table set for 10 guests sitting much closer than the recommended six feet apart.

Unsurprisingly, Prescott is facing criticism for hosting the gathering, reportedly a birthday party for a friend, at his Texas home. Pro Football Talk titled its story on the report “Pandemic be damned, Dak Prescott hosts a party for 30.”

Prosper, Texas police responded to TMZ after the story was initially published:

Prosper PD tells TMZ Sports it responded to a report of a potential party at Dak’s home. However, “the officer was unable to verify the report of a ‘party’; therefore, he just reminded the resident of the current CDC guidelines — to include social distancing.”

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram points out that this isn’t Prescott’s first time disregarding pandemic guidelines, as he has recently worked out in gyms with Dez Bryant and posed arm-to-arm.
