Dak Prescott isn’t going anywhere.

According to ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, the Cowboys have placed the exclusive franchise tag on Prescott. That move ensures no other NFL team can even negogiate with Prescott and provides the pending free agent signal-caller a top 5 salary among all NFL quarterbacks in 2020.

Prescott and Dallas can still negogiate on a long-term deal before the QB has to sign the franchise offer.

The biggest question with the Dallas starting quarterback now shifts to whether or not he will suit up for the Cowboys while not having a long-term deal in place.

Prescott has been the starting quarterback in Dallas dating back to his rookie season in 2016. He has thrown for 15,778 yards and 97 touchdowns with 36 interceptions in four seasons with the franchise. He has also rushed for 1,221 yards and scored on 21 touchdowns.

Considering he’s only 26-years-old heading into the offseason, Prescott’s best days in the NFL are likely ahead of him and now that he’s going to be coached by former Packers head coach Mike McCarthy — the coach that revived Brett Favre’s career in Green Bay and developed Aaron Rodgers into arguably the NFL’s best quarterback, the future in Dallas remains bright with a talented QB on the roster.

It should be noted that by tagging Prescott, Dallas receiver Amari Cooper is set to hit free agency.
