Former Mississippi State standout CB Darius Slay has spent his entire NFL career with the Detroit Lions since being drafted in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft.

He was being mentioned in trade rumors ahead of yesterday’s NFL trade deadline, but he ended up staying with the Lions.

When asked about being involved in rumors, Slay delivered an incredible line to Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press:

“I don’t care,” he said. “I’m a millionaire, dude.”

Now, before some of you rush to the comments to call him entitled, that’s not all he said about the trade deadline. He said football is a business and his job is simply to help whatever team he’s currently on win games:

“I didn’t care if they did, that’s the thing,” Slay said. “The whole point of time, y’all don’t understand it that I didn’t care if I did. It is what it is. It’s a whole business. All I was doing here is playing ball, trying to win games.”

That’s a good perspective to have, and it’s one Slay can afford to have (literally, since he’s a millionaire). For now, he’ll continue to play for the Lions, who have been competitive in almost every game this season.
