College football analyst Kirk Herbstreit names his top college football players across the country after every week, and he recently just released his best players of Week 8.

His Week 8 list included a single star from the SEC: Mississippi State linebacker Nathaniel “Bookie” Watson. The Bulldogs defender recorded a standout performance in MSU’s 7-3 win over Arkansas on Saturday, tallying some 14 combined tackles (5 solo) with 2 sacks in a game in which everything came down to a solid defensive effort.

As the final score would reflect, both of these teams have struggled drastically on offense throughout the season and continued to have trouble finding their rhythm as the Bulldogs earned their first SEC win of the season.

Also on Herbstreit’s list, Watson joined the company of Washington Huskies cornerback Mishael Powell, Utah Utes quarterback Bryson Barnes, Ohio State wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., Oklahoma State Cowboys running back Ollie Gordon II, UNLV Rebels placekicker Jose Pizano and Nebraska Cornhuskers defensive lineman Nash Hutmacher.

Here’s a look at the complete list from Herbstreit:

With an interesting slate of games on top across the SEC coming up in Week 9, it will be interesting to if more players from the conference make Herbstreit’s list the next time it is released.
