Mississippi State’s 2024 recruiting class is down to 15 commitments. An in-state ATH announced Sunday that he is reopening his recruitment.

Oak Grove standout PJ Woodland pledged to play for MSU on June 20. On Sunday he shared a note to social media stating that he had “full intention” to be a Bulldog, but due to unforeseen circumstances, he will be looking to sign elsewhere.

“I would like to thank Mississippi State and the entire community for the love and support you’ve shown me,” Woodland wrote. “As you all know, I have been committed to Mississippi State since June 2023, and it was my full intention to play in front of you all at Davis Wade Stadium. God has another plan. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am reopening my recruitment. I will not make any further comments until I have further clarity into my future. I ask that you respect my family and I during this time. Thank you and God Bless”

Woodland measures 6-feet, 165 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Woodland is rated 3-stars, the No. 17 recruit in the state of Mississippi, No. 39 ATH and No. 527 prospect overall in the Class of 2024.

Seventeen teams have extended scholarship offers to Woodland. Arkansas, Auburn, Florida State, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas and Texas A&M are among the teams that showed interest in Woodland prior to his MSU commitment.

Mississippi State’s 2024 recruiting class currently ranks No. 42 nationally on the Composite.
