A redshirt freshman, McCord played in 9 games for Mississippi State this season. He made 9-of-16 field-goal attempts and all 23 extra-point tries for a total of 50 points this season. McCord’s longest field goal of the season was a 43-yarder against Tennessee State.
The 2021 season was a rough one for Mississippi State kickers, with Mike Leach notably announcing an open tryout for walk-on kickers after the Bulldogs’ November loss at Arkansas. Leach’s staff landed a commitment from elite JUCO kicker Gabriel Plascencia on Sunday.
