Mississippi State tight end Jacarius Clayton is moving on from Starkville after 2 seasons there.

Clayton was a member of the 2022 class, hailing from Tupelo (Miss.) High. After a flip from Ole Miss, he originally committed to the Bulldogs as a defensive lineman and was ranked as the No. 17 player in the state, per the 247Sports Composite.

Here’s what Clayton had to say about the decision to transfer:

“First off, I just want to thank God for blessing me with the opportunity to play at this university and I’m thankful for all of my brothers and coaches that I have met and made a bond with but with that being said I will be entering the portal with 3-4 years of eligibility left” said Clayton.

Clayton saw little to no time on the field among the tight ends at Mississippi State. He is entering the portal with 3-4 years of eligibility left.

Mississippi State has one player at the tight end position as a verbal commit in the 2024 class. JaCorey Whitted is the lone TE in Mississippi State’s 2024 class as a 3-star commit.

Jeff Lebby is building his first roster for the Bulldogs after he was the offensive coordinator on Brent Venables’ staff at Oklahoma.
