Mississippi State wideout Rufus Harvey has put his name into the transfer portal after 3 seasons with the team, according to multiple reports.

D1Baseball was first to report the news on Thursday. A Starkville native, Harvey appeared in 13 games with 6 starts last season while working primarily as a slot receiver. Bulldog Blitz’s Jack Byers reported that Harvey is currently enrolled in summer classes at Mississippi State. In order to have immediate eligibility for the 2023 season, he’ll need to graduate from MSU before transferring.

Harvey was with the team through the spring, but didn’t participate in spring ball as he rehabbed an injury.  He told The Clarion Ledger he has been cleared to play.

The 5-foot-10 fourth-year junior led MSU in receptions last season, collecting 505 yards and 3 touchdowns on 53 catches. It was a breakout campaign for the wideout, who had just 5 receptions for 39 yards the year prior.

Harvey is the sixth MSU receiver to enter the portal since the end of the 2022 season and the fifth since the program hired Zach Arnett as head coach. Arnett’s offensive coordinator, Kevin Barbay, is moving away from the Air Raid that Mike Leach ran in Starkville.
