Eli Drinkwitz continues to work at warp speed when it comes to filling out his first staff at Missouri as the program announced the latest coach to join the Tigers on Monday.

The latest name to be added to Coach Drinkwitz’s staff is former UAB tight ends coach Casey Woods. Woods also served as the run game coordinator and recruiting coordinator for UAB. His official title in Columbia has not been defined at this time.

“Casey has been around college football for a long time, he’s got a tremendous heritage with his father’s history,” said Drinkwitz via a school-issued release.  “He’s got a tremendous work ethic and a very bright future and we’re excited to bring him and his family to Columbia to help us build the program.”

With Woods joining the Missouri coaching roster, the Tigers now has seven assistants on staff in Columbia with holdovers Ryan Walters, Brick Haley and David Gibbs being joined by Erik Link, DJ Smith and Charlie Harbison. Drinkwitz plans on serving as the program offensive coordinator and playcaller next season.

“My family and I are real excited to come to Columbia and be a part of a great tradition at Mizzou,” said Woods.  “Coach Drinkwitz and I have known each other for almost a decade now, and I know that he has great vision and he is a tireless worker and incredibly smart.  I am really looking forward to being under his leadership and to be back in the SEC – it’s the best of the best.”

Following these moves, Missouri has just three openings remaining on staff, which is far fewer than first-year SEC coach Sam Pittman, at Arkansas, or Lane Kiffin, at Ole Miss, currently have open.
