After the Miami Dolphins selected him with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, former Mizzou DE Charles Harris has struggled to get up to speed in the NFL.

However, as the Dolphins prepare for a Week 2 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Miami coaching staff is confident the talented pass rusher can be an asset.

According to the Miami Herald, Miami defensive coordinator Matt Burke said he has seen some improvement from the rookie in recent days:

“He’s ready,” Burke said Thursday. “He’s been good. It was cool to see his transition. I think he was building, building, building and I felt like he hit a little bit of a lull right in the middle of the preseason. Maybe this rest has helped him a little bit.”

The Dolphins’ 2017 season opener was delayed by Hurricane Irma, so Sunday will be the first time the team takes the field this year.

How much playing time Harris gets remains to be seen, but he’ll need to make the most of it to continue gaining the confidence of his coaches.
