ESPN's FPI gives Mizzou a great chance to make a bowl game
After a 1-5 start, it was looking like a lost season for the Missouri Tigers in coach Barry Odom’s second year at the helm of the program.
However, the Tigers are riding a four-game winning streak into this weekend’s game at Vanderbilt, needing only one more win to reach bowl eligibility.
According to a tweet from the SEC Network, ESPN’s Football Power Index projections now give Mizzou an 89-percent chance to make it to postseason play:
After starting 1-5, Mizzou had a 7% chance to reach a bowl game.
Four wins later, FPI says the Tigers have an 89% chance to go bowling.

As you can see here, the Tigers will be favored in both of their remaining games against Vanderbilt and Arkansas:
- at Vanderbilt — 68.5 percent
- at Arkansas — 63.9 percent
Winning an SEC road game isn’t easy, and the Tigers haven’t done it since 2014 at Tennessee. Therefore, Odom and the Tigers won’t take either game for granted, but a bowl game should be a goal for the team these next two weeks.
