Though his brother, Michael Porter Jr., will likely be a top-10 pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Mizzou F Jontay Porter has yet to make his own draft decision.

No, his brother won’t be back in Columbia this fall, but that doesn’t mean Jontay can’t come back for his sophomore season after showing flashes of brilliance last year.

In fact, according to a recent report from The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor following the NBA Combine, league sources believe the younger porter is actually leaning toward coming back to Mizzou:

Multiple league sources say Missouri big man Jontay Porter, the younger brother of Michael Porter, is leaning toward returning to school for his sophomore season. Porter is a skilled shooter and passer who needs to get in better shape to prove he can defend. He’s currently projected as a late-first- to mid-second-round pick. The 2019 draft class is weaker, so Jontay could rise into the lottery with a strong sophomore season.

It’s hard to pass up NBA money, but when Porter has a chance to be a lottery pick in the weaker 2019 class, a return to school is definitely something he should consider.

The deadline for draft decisions is nine days away, so Porter still has time. Cuonzo Martin and his Mizzou staff will be waiting anxiously for a final decision from the talented big.
