It might as well just be called the “Missouri Index.”

After Saturday’s brutal loss to Kentucky, USA TODAY’s Dan Wolken mentioned Missouri in his updated post-Week 9 “Misery Index.”

Though the article focused a lot on Miami, Mizzou got a mention, as you can read below:

It’s an unfortunate reality about college football, but some losses just count more than others. And when you’re on the verge of your first SEC win — in fact, seem to have it with 0:00 showing on the clock — but instead lose 15-14 to Kentucky at home in a game you led by 11 deep into the fourth quarter, it absolutely counts. A lot. Sure, it took a controversial pass interference penalty at the buzzer to give Kentucky an untimed down from the 2-yard line, which was ultimately converted for the win, but that doesn’t soothe a fan base that is experiencing 0-4 in the SEC this season.

Nor does it do much to boost the cause of coach Barry Odom, who is 6-14 for his career in the SEC despite having the services of Drew Lock, who could be one of the top quarterbacks taken in the 2019 NFL Draft. When you have someone like Lock on your roster, you should be able to muster a first down at some point in the second half against Kentucky. But Missouri actually finished the game with eight consecutive three-and-outs, and that’s simply inexcusable.

“Simply inexcusable” sums up a lot of the Mizzou experience in 2018, as many fans will tell you.

What will happen next week at Florida? Tiger fans are already bracing for the worst.
