Arkansas cursed? Fans, media react to Razorbacks’ collapse in CWS loss to LSU

Arkansas had everything where it wanted it late Wednesday night in Omaha.

The Razorbacks had grabbed a 5-3 lead in a crazy, back-and-forth battle with SEC rival LSU. They were going to keep their dreams of a first national championship alive and force LSU into another game on Thursday, with the winner of that would-be third battle between the teams heading to the Championship Series this weekend to play Coastal Carolina.

Justin Thomas Jr. was going to be the hero for the Razorbacks after his 2-run single to left field gave Arkansas that 5-3 lead. The Hogs had grabbed a 3-2 lead in the top of the 8th with 2 runs, then lost that lead in the bottom of the 8th when an LSU home run tied the game at 3-3. The last salvo was theirs, it appeared, and Arkansas was going to send LSU to its first loss at this College World Series.

Then everything went wrong. Because of course it did for Arkansas, which has never won that elusive national title and now won’t this year either, after allowing 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th in a stunning and gut-wrenching 6-5 loss. Hated rival LSU will instead be heading to that Championship Series final to play Coastal Carolina this weekend, while Arkansas wonders how it all went wrong so quickly.

What was even worse for Arkansas was that it was 1 out away from winning when allowing those 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th. So close, yet so far away, and there was reaction on social media.

Here is some of that uncensored reaction:
