Mississippi State is going back to Super Regionals. The Bulldogs completed a sweep of the Starkville Regional with a blowout victory over Louisiana, the regional’s 3-seed, 19-5 on Sunday night.

The MSU bats were hot from the get-go. Mississippi State jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd inning, made it 7-1 in the 4th inning, and never looked back. Playing as the visiting team at Dudy Noble Field, the Bulldogs scored 11 runs over their final 3 at-bats in the 7th-9th innings.

Five MSU pitchers appeared in the game. Starter Ryan McPherson got the win, going 5 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 7 with no walks issued.

Brian O’Connor was brought in to get the Bulldogs back to the College World Series, and now they’re just 2 wins away from a trip to Omaha. It won’t be easy, though, as No. 14 Mississippi State is paired with No. 3 Georgia, meaning MSU will be playing in the Athens Super Regional. In April, UGA swept Mississippi State in Starkville.
