No. 22 Arkansas completes sweep of No. 8 Alabama in Tuscaloosa

After back-to-back series losses to Florida and Auburn, Arkansas made a statement by sweeping Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Following Saturday’s lopsided win to clinch the series, the No. 22 Razorbacks won a tight 3-2 finale over the No. 8 Crimson Tide to complete the sweep.
Dave Van Horn used 4 pitchers in the rubber game. Alabama scored its 2 runs off of Arkansas starter Tate McGuire in the 2nd and 3rd innings. McGuire finished with a line of 3 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER.

The Hogs trailed 2-0 at the end of the 3rd inning. They wouldn’t score until the 6th inning. Fortunately for Arkansas, the bullpen did its job.
Parker Coil tossed 2 scoreless innings to keep it 2-0 through the fifth. Then the Razorbacks broke through at the plate. Arkansas scored its first run of the day on Maika Niu’s sacrifice fly to plate Ryder Helfrick.

That was all for Arkansas in the 6th inning. The Razorbacks tied it up in the 7th with an RBI single by Nolan Souza.

The Hogs scored in their third consecutive inning with Camden Kozeal’s RBI double to make it 3-2.

Gabe Gaeckle was the game’s winning pitcher for his 2 scoreless frames before the lead change. Ethan McElvain picked up a 6-out save by sending the Tide 6 up, 6 down through the 8th and the 9th.
