Alabama star guard Aden Holloway participating in summer workouts, per report

Alabama guard Aden Holloway is on the road back to a potential return to the Crimson Tide for the 2026-27 season.
According to a report on Monday afternoon by AL.com, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne said that Holloway has started participating in summer workouts with the rest of the team.
“While part of the process, he still has a way to go to satisfy the requirements set by the court, the University and the program,” said Byrne, according to the AL.com report.
Holloway was arrested and then indicted on felony drug charges this past spring. He faced 2 felonies, including first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp. That was before a grand jury added 2 misdemeanor charges of illegal possession of prescriptions drugs and the use/possession of drug paraphernalia, according to court records.
One of Alabama‘s top players last season, Holloway averaged 16.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.8 assists while shooting 48.1% from the field. But right as the Tide were focusing on a deep run in the NCAA Tournament, Holloway was arrested and later entered into a second-chance program. He has up to a year to complete that second-chance program.
Holloway isn’t expected to take that long in the program. According to an information sheet for the second-chance program, Holloway is “anticipated to last 6 months” in the program. If Holloway completes the program, 2 drug charges will be dismissed, according to court documents. The other 2 drug charges against Holloway were dropped, according to those court documents.
According to Holloway’s attorney, Jason Neff, the Crimson Tide star is hoping to complete the second-chance program in faster than 6 months.
With or without Holloway’s presence, Alabama will once again be chasing a spot in the Final Four next April. Bama got to its only Final Four in 2024, and here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Crimson Tide’s chances to get back there in 2027:
