Auburn basketball beats Florida, Hoosiers for 4-star PG out of Indiana

College basketball season is still over a month away from officially tipping off, but that isn’t stopping programs across the country from hitting the recruiting trail to land some big-time high school talent.
The Auburn Tigers, entering year 2 of the Steven Pearl era, have already been linked to several top players in the 2027 recruiting class, and they also just landed their first commitment of the cycle.
Per recruiting analyst Sam Kayser, 4-star point guard Jason Gardner Jr. officially committed to the Tigers on Monday afternoon, choosing Auburn over several other major programs.

An Indiana native, Gardner is ranked the 15th-best point guard in the 2027 cycle and the No. 64 player overall in the nation. He chose Pearl and the Tigers over the in-state Indiana Hoosiers, Florida Gators, Stanford Cardinal, and DePaul Blue Demons.
College hoops recruiting typically starts to heat up around this time of year, and Gardner is the first of what Pearl and the rest of the Auburn staff end up being a strong group of high school players who take their talents to The Plains.
