Tuesday’s SEC slate of college basketball games features 3 intriguing matchups: Oklahoma vs. Florida, Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State and South Carolina vs. LSU.

The headliner, of course, is the top-25 matchup between the Aggies and Bulldogs. OU vs. Florida could have NCAA Tournament implications for the Sooners while the matchup between the Gamecocks and Tigers features the 2 last-place teams in the conference.

Walter Clayton Jr. higher than 8.5 rebounds + assists

Oklahoma has been pretty uncompetitive against elite teams in the SEC this season, particularly in recent weeks. The Sooners have lost by 18+ points to Mizzou, Tennessee and Auburn since the start of February. Coming off of a devastating collapse against LSU and with coach Porter Moser on the hot seat, the Sooners are on ‘quit watch’ coming into this game against the Gators.

With that in mind, I like Walter Clayton Jr. to record higher than 8.5 rebounds + assists. He’s soared past this number in 3 consecutive games. In fact, he’s averaging 13 rebounds + assists over that span. Even if this game turns into a blowout, Clayton is likely to still play 30+ minutes. That’s been a consistent pattern as he’s failed to reach 30+ minutes just once in SEC play, and that was in a loss to Tennessee. He should have plenty of time and opportunity to reach at least 9 rebounds + assists at home against the Sooners.

Cameron Matthews higher than 1.5 steals

Cameron Matthews leads the SEC in steals per game this season at 2.5. He’s averaging 2.3 steals per night against SEC opposition as well and has recorded multiple steals in 7 of his last 8 games.

Matthews is set to face off against a Texas A&M team that has been a bit loose with the ball at times this season. The Aggies are 314th nationally in offensive steal rate in 2024-25, according to KenPom. They also rank just 10th in the SEC in that category during conference play with an offensive steal rate of 10%. Additionally, Matthews has performed well in this spot before. He has 6 steals in his last 3 games against the Aggies dating back to the 2021-22 season.

KeShawn Murphy higher than 17.5 points + rebounds

We’ll stay with the Texas A&M vs. Mississippi State game for this pick. KeShawn Murphy’s points + rebounds projection is just at 17.5, which is well below his season average in SEC play of 19.9. Murphy’s recent track record is even better. He’s produced higher than this projection in 5 consecutive games, averaging 24 points + rebounds over that span. Twice in those games he’s scored 18+ points alone.

As for the rebounds, it’s always tough to get boards against Texas A&M. The Aggies are far and away the best offensive rebounding team in the country. But they also miss a lot of shots. Despite being a top-15 team overall nationally, A&M ranks 13th in the SEC in effective field goal percentage this season. There will still be plenty of opportunities for Murphy to hit the defensive glass in this game. Murphy enters this game with a defensive rebounding rate of 24.8%, which ranks 44th nationally, per KenPom.
