Georgia basketball signed former Ole Miss center James Scott on Thursday, an addition that gives the Bulldogs a center with 27 games of starting experience in the SEC.

This will be Scott’s 4th school in as many years. The former Rebel started his career at Charleston, transferred to Louisville and subsequently transferred to Ole Miss a year later. Now, he’s heading to Athens to play for Mike White and the Bulldogs for his final season of eligibility.

Scott is an elite shot blocker and, while not a go-to option, was very efficient near the rim. He hit 62 of his 85 attempts last season and boasts a block percentage of 8.9%, which ranked 31st among qualified DI players. Scott is also a good rebounder, having averaged 4.6 rebounds per game across 18 minutes of action per game last season. As mentioned, Scott is not a scorer — he averaged just 3.9 points per game for Chris Beard’s Rebels in 2025-26.

That last part is important. Scott isn’t a 30-minute option at center, so expect to see plenty of returner Kareem Stagg and St. Bonaventure Andrew Osasuyi in 2026-27, too.

Scott is the 5th transfer addition of the offseason for Georgia, joining Osasuyi, Penn State’s Freddie Dilione V, JUCO product Kemauri Millender and Saint Louis sharpshooter Brady Dunlap.
