Jac Caglianone sent a baseball to the moon Tuesday night.
Well, it was more like 403 feet, but with how quickly the ball reached its destination after being hammered by Caglianone, it might as well have been a rocket ship. Here’s a look at the 2-run shot, which put Team Italy up 5-0 in the top of the 4th inning:
Caglianone had a stellar outing at the plate against Team USA Tuesday night. The former Florida Gator recorded 2 hits and worked a walk with 2 RBI, 3 runs and the above laser beam to right field. He was one of just two members of Team Italy to record 2 hits against the USA.
Speaking of, the USA didn’t have their best outing this time around. Despite a strong push in the final innings, Italy handed the USA its first loss of the week, 8-6. Italy, on the other hand, is still undefeated in Pool B and will face Mexico on Wednesday night.
Here’s a look at the latest odds to win the World Baseball Classic, via Kalshi. Italy needs to beat Mexico on Wednesday for Team USA to remain in competition.
