LSU basketball finalizing high-profile nonconference game, per report
LSU is finalizing a deal to play Houston in a 2026-27 nonconference game, according to a report.
That’s per college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, who notes that the game would take place at the Toyota Center in Houston. The Cougars typically play their home games at the Fertitta Center, so this would not be a true road game for the Tigers.
According to Rothstein’s report, the date for the game is still to be determined and it’s unclear when an official announcement may come.
Under Kelvin Sampson’s leadership, Houston has transformed into one of the best and most consistent programs in the nation. The Cougars have been a No. 1 or No. 2 seed in 5 of the past 6 seasons. They’ve also reached the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament in 6 consecutive years and made the Final Four in 2025.
