The cat’s out of the bag — former Mizzou power forward Mark Mitchell has officially committed to Kentucky basketball, according to a report Saturday from KSR.
Mitchell recently entered the transfer portal after being granted a temporary injunction to play a 5th season by a Kentucky judge. The former Duke and Mizzou PF entered the portal with a ‘do not contact’ tag, then applied for enrollment at Kentucky earlier Saturday morning.

It goes without saying that this is a mammoth get for Wildcats head coach Mark Pope, who has already brought in a few big-name transfers such as Milan Momcilovic, Zoom Diallo and Alex Wilkins. Mitchell also brings more length to a frontcourt that includes 7-footer Malachi Moreno and overseas big man Ousmane N’Diaye.
Mitchell was a 2nd Team All-SEC member last season after averaging 18.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game. He’s a quality defender who can stretch the floor with a 38% shot from range, though he only attempted 1.5 3s per game with the Tigers last season.
Kentucky is set to face off at Missouri on January 9 in the third game of their SEC schedule.
