Tennessee announces Nate Ament’s status for South Carolina game
Tennessee forward Nate Ament will not play for the Vols against South Carolina on Tuesday.
The program announced that news on Monday evening, citing the right leg injury that Ament suffered against Alabama over the weekend. Per the program, Ament’s timetable for a return is still “to be determined.”
Ament was previously expected to be questionable for the South Carolina game, per reports. The freshman phenom has been one of Tennessee‘s best players this season and will be missed by the Vols on both ends of the floor.
Ament sustained the leg injury late in the first half against Alabama on Saturday. He played just 11 minutes in a 71-69 loss to the Crimson Tide.
Ament is averaging 17.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per game this season for Tennessee. He’s also averaging 19 points per game in SEC play.
Despite his absence, Tennessee is still a significant favorite to beat South Carolina on Tuesday night. The Gamecocks are just 3-13 in SEC play and have lost 12 of their last 14 contests overall. Here’s the latest odds from Kalshi’s marketplace:
