Walter Clayton Jr. shares message for NBA teams ahead of draft

Walter Clayton Jr. is letting himself enjoy Florida’s national championship win in the NCAA Tournament. But he’ll soon be shifting focus to the NBA Draft.
“I’m starting to think about what’s next. I’m spending time with my teammates now, but next week the NBA Draft process starts,” Clayton said during a Thursday media opportunity. “When I’m thinking about the Draft, I just want the teams to know I’m all about winning.”
His time at Florida backs up that statement. Clayton reflected on how much Florida basketball improved in his 2 seasons playing for Todd Golden.
“The only advice I have is to keep working and trust in yourself,” Clayton said Thursday in Gainesville. “Florida was 16-17 before I got here and I told Coach Golden I was going to come here and put in work. Nothing is guaranteed until you put in that work.”
On Thursday, the only “shift” for Clayton was on the clock at Raising Cane’s in Gainesville. Clayton, Alijah Martin and Thomas Haugh spent some time behind the counter at the chicken finger spot near UF campus.

The national champions also signed a few autographs for a Florida fanbase that has had quite the time celebrating the 3rd national title in Florida basketball history.
