There was no question Alabama would be ranked among the first four teams in Tuesdayย night’s secondย College Football Playoff rankings.

The only drama was how high would the Tide climb?

Alabama rose toย No. 2ย in the selection committee’s second rankingsย after debuting at No. 4 last week.

Last week’s top-four inclusion prompted a swift rebuttal from analysts, who accused the selection committee of grading one-loss Alabama on a different scale.

Saturday night, the Crimson Tide showed it might be on a different level after dismantling LSU and stuffing Heisman Trophy hopeful Leonard Fournette.

Alabama (8-1, 5-1 in the SEC) faces another challenge Saturday against Mississippi State (7-2, 3-2) and dual-threat quarterback Dak Prescott.
