Alex Golesh is all business heading into Week 3 against Florida.
The Tigers open SEC play againstJon Sumrall‘s Gators in a battle of first-year SEC head coaches. It’s not the first time they’ve faced off — Sumrall’s Tulane squad and Golesh’s USF program battled in 2024, with the Green Wave coming away on top, 45-10.
Golesh fielded a question Monday regarding his past with Sumrall leading up to Week 3’s matchup on The Plains. When told Sumrall said the pair were friends, Golesh responded with the following:
“He said we were friends? Not this week, we’re not,” Golesh said. “I’ve got a ton of respect for Jon… we were both assistants in this league at the same time, he did a great job at Troy. High-end job at Troy, high-end job at Tulane. Got a ton of respect for how he works, a ton of respect for who he is, I think he does it the right way. Competes like crazy. I got a lot of respect for him. This week, I don’t care.”
