Projecting the new AP Top 25 for Week 15

It was a light college football slate this Saturday in the number of games but the games that were played delivered some shocking results.

Two top-1o teams will be re-assigned after home losses. No. 6 Florida fell to unranked 37-34 in a Swamp shocker.

The Gators are almost certain to fall behind Georiga after the Bulldogs’ big win over Missouri, even though UF won the head-to-head earlier in the season.

No. 9 Miami also lost at home in a 62-26 blown out to No. 20 North Carolina 62-26. Considering how bad of a loss it was and that both of Miami’s losses are blowouts, the Canes might as well take North Carolina’s old spot at No. 20.

A 10 p.m. ET game BYU-San Diego State makes the AP Top 25 projection incomplete. The teams are tied 14-14 in the second quarter. BYU was favored by 16.5 points. We’ll assume the Cougars pull away by time we’ve called it a night and keep BYU at No. 14.

Changes are coming to the bottom of the poll. No. 21 Colorado suffered its first loss, falling to Utah 38-21. One could argue 4-1 is still Top 25 worthy, but voters tend to drop lower-ranked teams for losing to unranked foes. We’re dropping the Buffs from the Top 25. No. 25 Wisconsin fell below .500 with a 28-7 loss to Iowa. The Badgers are certainly out of the Top 25 now.

Here’s how we project Sunday’s new AP Top 25:

  1. Alabama (10-0) def. Arkansas, 52-3
  2. Notre Dame (10-0), did not play
  3. Ohio State (5-0), did not play
  4. Clemson (9-1), did not play
  5. Texas A&M (7-1), did not play
  6. Cincinnati (8-0), did not play
  7. Indiana (6-1), did not play
  8. Iowa State (8-2), did not play
  9. Coastal Carolina (11-0) def. Troy, 41-38
  10. Georgia (7-2) def. Missouri, 49-14
  11. Florida (8-2) lost to LSU, 37-34
  12. Oklahoma (7-2), did not play
  13. Northwestern (6-1) def. Illinois, 28-10
  14. BYU (9-1) vs. San Diego State, 14-14 tie (BYU favored by 16.5)
  15. North Carolina (8-3) def. No. 9 Miami, 62-26
  16. USC (4-0) def. UCLA, 43-38
  17. Louisiana (9-1), did not play
  18. Tulsa (6-1), did not play
  19. Iowa (6-2) def. No. 25 Wisconsin, 28-7
  20. Miami (8-2) lost to No. 20 North Carolina, 62-26
  21. Liberty (9-1), did not play
  22. Texas (6-3), did not play
  23. Buffalo (5-0) def. Akron, 56-7
  24. Oklahoma State (7-3) def. Baylor, 42-3
  25. NC State (8-3), did not play

Projected to drop out of the AP Top 25: No. 21 Colorado (4-1) lost to Utah, 38-21; No. 25 Wisconsin (2-3) lost to No. 19 Iowa, 28-7
