Auburn center Nick Brahms on Chad Morris’ first game vs. Arkansas: ‘It’s personal’

Even if he won’t vocalize it, chances are pretty high that Saturday will mean plenty to Chad Morris. The Auburn offensive coordinator will coach his first game against Arkansas since being let go by the program after a brief tenure.
Morris finished with a 4-18 record at Arkansas. Through 2 games this season, Auburn’s offense has been uneven. After a 29-13 victory vs. Kentucky, Auburn followed up with a 27-6 loss vs. Georgia.
Auburn players are relishing the opportunity to help Morris knock off his former program and get back in the win column.
“I would say it’s definitely personal for (Morris),” center Nick Brahms said to the Princeton Daily Clarion. “Nobody takes him for granted, because he’s a great person and a great man and a great coach. This is his former team that he coached for, so we’re going to play hard for him.”
Meanwhile, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman told 247Sports that his team isn’t using Morris as any added incentive.
“I’ll be honest with you. It’s just another football game to us,” Pittman said. “We won’t mention the fact that Coach Morris was the head coach here. They know it. Some of them probably loved him, and some of them probably didn’t, just like any coach. We’re going to take a business approach to it and go out there and try to do our best. I don’t know how [Morris] will feel about it. You’ll have to ask him. I was the O-line coach at Georgia, and we played them, so it’s not really a big deal. We’re just trying to compete and win the football game.”
That very well may be the case right now, but at kickoff you can expect the emotions to rise for each team. And if Auburn comes out victorious, there’s no question Morris is getting the game ball.
