Entering play in Week 7, the Georgia Bulldogs had beaten the Auburn Tigers nine straight times. Seven of those Bulldog wins had come by double digits. None of that mattered when Alex Golesh‘s team walked into Athens and emerged with a 27-24 victory on Saturday afternoon.

Because the win was on the road, Tiger fans didn’t have an opportunity to storm the field. So, they did the next best thing. They gathered at Toomer’s Corner and went absolutely crazy celebrating their upset win, dousing their famous tree in toilet paper.

Auburn (4-2, 2-2 SEC) was outgained 440-366 by Georgia on Saturday. However, the Tiger defense forced three turnovers to overcome 11 penalties and even the scales. Auburn intercepted Gunner Stockton twice and benefited from the quarterback’s late fumble while the Bulldogs were driving for a game-winning field goal try of their own.

Georgia (6-1. 4-1 SEC) snapped a 53-game winning streak against unranked opponents with its loss. Kirby Smart mentioned after last week’s victory against Alabama that the SEC can humble you each Saturday if you let it. Now, the Bulldogs are dealing with their dose. Georgia goes on bye next week while Auburn battles LSU at Jordan-Hare Stadium (noon ET).
