It’s highly unlikely that freshman QB Woody Barrett will play in Auburn’s game against LSU, but coach Gus Malzahn says he might not be too far off from playing.
“Woody Barrett got here at the end of July, he had an ankle injury that held him back for about two two and half weeks. He’s still coming along,” Malzahn said on his radio show Thursday, per Auburn Undercover. “We’re still trying to bring him along. To answer your question: probably not this week but each week we’re going to try to get him ready and if he’s needed and called upon, he’ll be ready.”
Rhett Lashlee said on Wednesday that Barrett has not yet worked with the first or second team, according to Brandon Marcello.
“He’ll get some individual drills,” Lashlee said. “He’ll get some reps in throwing routes and stuff, but when it comes to team reps, he’s not getting a lot of reps just because there’s not enough time if you’re trying to get the No. 1 and No. 2 guy ready.”
