The No. 14 Missouri Tigers are looking to move to 5-1 this weekend against a very talented and upset-minded Texas A&M Aggies squad in a battle of two former Big 12 rivals.
Leading the way for the Tigers has been star quarterback Austin Simmons, who entered the contest against the Aggies as one of the top gunslingers in the nation through his first 5 games.
Simmons had yet to throw a single interception all year prior to Saturday, but that all changed in the first quarter when an A&M defender tipped a pass from the Tigers’ signal caller up in the air and into the hands of senior linebacker Daymion Sanford.
This tipped pass turned interception snapped what had been a nearly flawless year for Simmons, as he had passed for nearly 1,300 yards and 13 touchdowns with zero picks through the first 5 weeks of the season.
For Sanford, this marked just the second interception of his college career, with the first coming back in Week 5 of the 2025 season against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in a performance that earned SEC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The Aggies were unable to capitalize on Simmons’ first blunder of the season, as their own star quarterback Marcel Reed gave the ball right back to the Tigers a few plays later by throwing a pick of his own.
