Baton Rouge air traffic control made sure that Lane Kiffin got the royal treatment at LSU before he even stepped foot there as the new head coach.

On Sunday night, after a whirlwind day for Kiffin, who decided to bolt from Ole Miss and coach LSU instead, there was a special message waiting for him as his plane touched down in Baton Rouge. It’s a cheer that he became quite familiar with since taking the Rebels job in 2020, but it’s now a cheer that is identified with a program that he left behind.

Yes, it’s the “Hotty Toddy” cheer, and even though Kiffin was leaving the city where “Hotty Toddy” is celebrated, he heard the Ole Miss rally cry again on Sunday night when beginning his new coaching life at LSU.

Here is that remarkable moment when “Hotty Toddy” was uttered by a Baton Rouge air traffic controller:

Kiffin is set to take over for Brian Kelly at LSU. Kelly was fired midway through the 2025 season after less than 4 seasons in charge. Kiffin will reportedly bring multiple key staff members to Baton Rouge with him as Ole Miss prepares for a College Football Playoff appearance.
