Bill Belichick has banned the North Carolina social media team from posting anything Patriots-related, according to a report.

Belichick was named UNC’s new head football coach on December 11th, 2024. His first season with the program has been anything but what fans expected when Belichick accepted the job. UNC is currently 1-4 and coming off a 38-10 loss to Clemson. While the on-the-field performance has been bad, much of the talk around UNC has been about Belichick’s off-the-field decisions.

The latest is that Bill Belichick has banned UNC’s social media team from posting anything related to the Patriots, per Ross Martin. That would include Drake Maye, who led the Patriots to an upset victory over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday Night Football this week:

It’s fairly common to see the alma mater of a professional athlete post about their performance after a big game. It seems Belichick is still sour about how things went between him and the Patriots. Belichick has also reportedly banned Patriots scouts from attending practices or games in Chapel Hill.

It’s worth noting, though, that Carolina abruptly ended its silence about Maye on Monday morning a couple of hours after Martin’s report was shared:

Belichick and UNC are on a bye this weekend before they go across the country to face the California Bears on Friday, Oct. 17.
