CBS Sports analyst includes Ty Simpson in latest Heisman top 3
Alabama’s recent rise back into the College Football Playoff picture has coincided with a red-hot stretch from its quarterback, and Ty Simpson is beginning to receive a heavy dose of Heisman hype as a result.
Former Notre Dame offensive tackle and CBS Sports analyst Aaron Taylor revealed his current Heisman Trophy top 3 on Tuesday, and he included Simpson in his third spot behind Miami’s Carson Beck and Oregon’s Dante Moore.
Up to this point in the season, Simpson has completed 70.3% of his passes for 1,478 yards, 13 touchdowns and just one interception. The junior claims the 13th-best QBR in the nation, has tossed at least 2 touchdowns in every game he’s started and has thrown for over 250 yards against every Power 4 opponent he’s faced.
On top of all that, Simpson’s breakthrough season comes after the Tennessee native and former blue-chip recruit bided his time for three full years behind Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe.
Many other college football personalities agree with Taylor’s listed players, as it appears that the Heisman will again be a quarterback’s award after Travis Hunter became a unique honoree last season.
Simpson has plenty more chances to manufacture some Heisman moments this season, and it all begins at noon EST Saturday when his Alabama squad visits Missouri for a top-15 SEC clash.
