CBS Sports analysts make picks for Georgia-Florida game

It won’t be at its traditional location in Jacksonville, but Georgia–Florida (or Florida-Georgia) will still be a highlight on the college football calendar.

This time around, both teams are ranked for the first time since 2020. That’s when Florida, ranked No. 8, defeated Georgia 44-28 at EverBank Stadium.

That’s actually been the Gators’ last win in the series. Georgia has taken the last five meetings and eight of the last nine. And, according to CBS Sports’ “Inside College Football” analysts, that won’t change on Saturday.

Brian Jones thinks this one will be quite physical. While he picked the Bulldogs — and despite Jon Sumrall not naming a starter just yet — Jones did give a nod to Florida quarterback Tramell Jones (no relation), who “tore up” Texas a few weeks ago.

“He didn’t make any mistakes. Look at him. He’s so elusive. He’s an athletic guy,” Jones said.

Aaron Taylor mentioned the role Jadan Baugh will need to play during the game, but still picked Georgia.

“Florida’s run game has been hit or miss this year. In their wins, 240 yards per game. In their losses, 80 yards per game. It is stark,” Taylor said. “If the Gators are going to win, they have to have success on the ground. And that’s not going to be easy against a rested, Kirby Smart Georgia defense. … Coming off of a fresh week, I think they get back to the Georgia that we saw whoop Alabama.”
