Clemson defeated South Carolina 16-7 on Saturday night in Williams-Brice Stadium.

The Tigers got their revenge after losing to the Gamecocks last year in Death Valley to close out the 2022 regular season. To celebrate the win, several players took the Clemson flag to midfield and planted it on South Carolina’s logo at the 50-yard line.

Here’s video of Jeremiah Trotter Jr.’s flag plant:

Clemson’s defense was dominant this contest. The Tigers’ defense got on the board in the first quarter with a scoop-and-score touchdown from Khalil Barnes. Barnes also picked off Spencer Rattler in the win and finished with 4 total tackles.

Offensively, Clemson running backs Will Shipley and Phil Mafah both had 80+ yards. The Tigers didn’t find the end zone in this game, but kicker Jonathan Weitz made three field goals — all from 40+ yards — to give Clemson a multi-score win.

Clemson has now 4 consecutive games to close out the 2023 regular season. The Tigers can get to 9-4 on the year if they win their bowl game.

Clemson will learn its bowl destination next weekend.
