National Signing Day is on Feb. 4 and the SEC is primed to bring in another impressive haul of top recruits in the 2015 recruiting class.

In the next 25 days, Saturday Down South counts down the top 25 recruits either committed to the SEC or strongly considering SEC schools.

No. 2 Byron Cowart

Position: Defensive End
247Sports ranking: No. 3 overall; No. 2 overall in Florida
Committed: Down to Auburn and Florida

The skinny: Byron Cowart is the most sought after non-committed prospect in the SEC. Cowart just dominated players in high school, and he’s the prototypical hybrid defensive end/linebacker built for either Florida’s or Auburn’s defense. Cowart has all the tools necessary to be a future first-round NFL Draft pick. His main game is quickness and explosion, and his first step is lightning quick. Cowart has played the recruiting game well, and Auburn and Florida both feel good going into National Signing Day.

Freshman projection: Cowart will play as a freshman no matter whether it’s Auburn or Florida, and he’s the perfect fit for Will Muschamp’s or Geoff Collins’ defense. Cowart wants to play with his hand up and down, and he could be a force rushing the passer. Both schools are selling him on playing time, and he’ll be in the defensive line rotation for the Gators or the Tigers.
